Exam Simulation Gymi in Zurich

Experience the ZAP under realistic conditions – before it really counts

On 6 and 7 February 2027, we will hold a realistic simulation entrance exam for both Langgymi and Kurzgymi at Volkshaus Zurich.

Students complete a full simulation exam under conditions that replicate the format of the official Central Entrance Examination (ZAP). This allows them to familiarise themselves with the exam situation, practise managing time pressure and nervousness, and receive a meaningful assessment of their current level for the final weeks of their Gymnasium entrance exam preparation.

Dates and costs

Date: Saturday 6 February 2027 or Sunday 7 February 2027 (morning)
Exam types: Langgymi and Kurzgymi on both days
Location: Volkshaus Zurich, Stauffacherstrasse 60, 8004 Zurich

Costs: CHF 350.-
Early-bird discount: CHF 300.- until 18 December 2026
Receipt of results: By email no later than the following Saturday

Why an Exam Simulation Is Worthwhile

Strong subject knowledge alone is not always enough. The ability to manage time pressure, nervousness and an unfamiliar exam situation can also affect the result. Our ZAP simulation allows students to experience the Gymnasium entrance exam under realistic conditions before the actual exam day. They become familiar with the procedure, apply the knowledge they have acquired under exam conditions and identify areas in which they still feel uncertain.

As the results are provided before the sports holidays, students have sufficient time to work specifically on any identified gaps and prepare for the official Gymnasium entrance exam.

Your benefits at a glance

  • Realistic exam procedure based on the conditions of the official ZAP
  • Full examination in German and Mathematics
  • Central exam venue at Volkshaus Zurich
  • Correction and grading of all exam components
  • Brief individual comments on completed tasks
  • Detailed feedback on the essay across the individual competency areas
  • Individual grades and calculated exam average
  • Delivery of the corrected exam before the sports holidays
  • Optional telephone consultation to review the results with our management team

A Realistic Simulation of the Zurich Gymnasium Entrance Exam

The exam procedure, duration, breaks, seating arrangements and permitted aids follow the conditions of the official Central Entrance Examination in the Canton of Zurich.

Students complete the German and Mathematics exam components for their chosen school level. These include:

  • Writing a text / essay
  • Language analysis and reading comprehension
  • Mathematics

This allows participants to experience not only the academic requirements, but also the timing and organisation of a real Gymnasium entrance exam.

Complete Correction and Transparent Grading

All exam components are corrected and graded. Where the task allows, partial points are awarded. Brief comments in the corrected documents help students understand errors and identify possible areas of uncertainty. In addition to essay correction, students receive further feedback based on a competency grid.

Families receive:

  • the corrected exam as a scanned copy by email
  • individual grades for the different exam components
  • an exam average calculated in accordance with the ZAP regulations
  • the option of a telephone consultation to review the results with our management team

As the first-semester school report required for the calculation is generally not yet available at the time of the exam simulation, no binding overall grade can yet be calculated, including the previous academic performance grade.

Personal Review of the Results

After receiving the exam results, parents can if required arrange a telephone consultation with our management team.

During the consultation, the results can be discussed in greater detail, any open questions clarified and possible focus areas for further preparation identified. This gives families not only a grade, but also well-founded guidance for the remaining time before the Gymnasium entrance exam.

Who is the ZAP simulation suitable for?

The exam simulation is suitable for students preparing for the entrance examination to the Langgymnasium or Kurzgymnasium in the Canton of Zurich who wish to:

  • assess their current level of knowledge
  • complete a full Gymnasium entrance exam under time pressure
  • become familiar with the official exam procedure in advance
  • reduce nervousness and exam-related stress
  • identify their strengths and any remaining areas for improvement
  • receive a well-founded assessment of their current level before the sports holidays

Participation is independent of whether the Gymnasium entrance exam preparation was completed with Perspectiva Nova or another provider.
