Spelling training is usually regarded as tedious and boring by the pupils. In addition, there are too few opportunities in everyday school life to practise and consolidate correct spelling with short exercises.
What we offer
There are many rules behind correct spelling, which the pupils often do not know. By working out and systematising these rules, the pupils receive logical explanations for certain spellings and can thus better internalise the words. Our aim is not to improve spelling selectively and in the short term through dictation or memorisation of words, but to give the pupils a framework on which they can build permanently.
Who doesn't know the feeling of sitting in front of a blank sheet of paper with an essay topic and having no idea what to write? Many students are understandably overwhelmed by such a situation and know few strategies to come up with a good idea anyway. Essays or other writing occasions also take a lot of time and are also labour-intensive in terms of correction. As a result, writing sometimes takes on a marginal significance and the students are then put before the head when, for example, they have to deliver a stringent and eloquent text for an entrance examination or a letter of application.
What we offer
Writing should not trigger a blockade, but rather promote creativity and imagination! We introduce the pupils to writing a longer text through many short writing occasions. Furthermore, we show them strategies on how to deal with a lack of ideas and which aspects have to be considered in each type of text.
Writing should also be fun! It is quite legitimate to write an abstract, imaginative text once in a while and to have fun with it. The pupils are introduced to a fun approach to writing texts by dealing with different types of texts.
In addition, we also do style exercises with the students so that they can also score in this area in their texts.
In their school career, pupils are repeatedly confronted with the task of interpreting a text or answering questions about it. For many, however, it is difficult to find a starting point or to separate important information from the unimportant and to filter out what is essential.
What we offer
We work with the pupils on different methods of taking apart a text and identifying, understanding and reproducing the central ideas. To do this, we use the methods suggested by research, such as working out key words, a short summary of the text or dividing emotions and feelings according to characters and assigning them by colour. We also consciously work with visual methods so that every type of learner can be optimally supported.
